An Introduction to the Birds of Tropical America

    Songbirds - Tapaculos

Tanaculos are small greyish birds who stay close to the ground deep in the brush, where they call with a repetetive trill. Although tapaculos are sometimes described as rat-like because of their color and behaviour, one species, the Ocellated Tapaculo, is red with ornate details.
